What is Required of Us

31 Oct

From My Heart

We aren’t required to do great things-

just small things with great love.

Open your heart to help someone.

Do all things as unto the Lord above.

Be present in the moment.

Do you hear the plea?

“I need someone to listen,

Won’t you give five minutes to me?”

When you open your hand to help,

you are truly opening your heart.

and when you do all things as unto the Lord,

He will strengthen you from the start.

” Lord, we all need people in our life-

It’s implanted in our soul.”

To love and to  be loved is an inborn emotion.

Make communicating today your goal..

A day without love is wasted.

There is always such a need.

When you reach out to your neighbor,

You are expressing God’s love in deed.

Identify Your Gift- God Gave You One

“The gift of fantasy has meant more to me

than my talent for absorbing positive knowledge”.

Albert Einstein

Lord, I know there is a lot to be serious about in life,

but there is a need for levity, too.

Laughter is good medicine and lowers your

blood pressure quicker than a pill can do.

You have given us the gift of “Helps”

Look around.  There is always a need.

The good Lord turned my home into a “cat haven”

I now have eight cats to feed!

The gift of fantasy has served me well throughout the years.

Born during the “Great Depression”,

I wrote poetry to dispel my fears.

Magazines were a great source of material

used in composing cards for family or a friend.

I cut out a “knight in shining armor,”

which pleased my father to no end.

Have you identified your gift from God?

There is no doubt you have one.

God has created us in His own image.

We now have fellowship with the Son.

Attitude is Everything

If you can’t change your circumstances,
Change your Attitude.
A dramatic benefit you will see.
An acceptance of things that we
Cannot Change
Will develop a sense of serenity.

God uses life as “on-the-job training”-
He never promises A life free from care.
But He does promise never to leave or
Forsake us,
And never gives us “more than we can bear.”

God could spare us from hardship,
But, then how would we learn,
How would we grow?
Problems prove our integrity,
I learned far more from my losses in life,
And reached a higher plateau

Food for thought:
“Our character, if genuine, is never altered by circumstance”

It’s All Relative

Many years ago, when my ego was at its peak,

a small boy knocked at my door-

A donation he came to seek.

I smiled warmly down at him,

As I inquired, “What can I do for you, Son?

“Would you like to buy a ticket?

The other old lady down the street bought one.”

“O-u-c-h!” That hurt!”

You just ruined my day!!”

Who was he comparing me with?

Surely not – , aw-w-w, c’mon, NO WAY!”

My hair turned white prematurely,

which made it hard to judge my age.

I didn’t know what to attribute it to..

It certainly wasn’t to a calendar page.

Children are so candidly honest,

they don’t even try to be discreet.

While shopping recently, standing in the aisle,

a small child came ruining up to me, exclaiming,

“You have big feet!”

“Okay, so I’m an old lady with big feet!

What else?  Heaven only knows.

Here it comes!  When asked, “Isn’t she pretty?”

The answer was “Well, she does have a  b-i-g nose!”

I have learned to laugh at myself-

Life is so much more enjoyable that way.

God has blessed me with a sense of humor.

It serves me well each and every day.

Psalm 126:2

“Then was our mouth full of laughter,

our tongue with singing.”

God created you to be YOU!

He is the one who gave you talent.

He is the one who gave you lifel

When you struggle to be another,

it will only lead to strife!

Trust in the Lord with your whole heart.

He wants the best for you.

When you are doing what you love,

God is saying “Yes” to you.

Don’t let failure define you.

Hold on to your vision.

Ask the Lord to guide you

in making the right decision.

When you are doing what you love,

it excites your inner core.

It energizes creativity

and allows you to do more.

Keep in mind, your biggest cheerleader

in life is you..

Avoid Premature Aging with One Word- “Enthusiasm”

It is not how long you have lived-

Nor how long you have left.

It is how much life you have packed

into those years,

So you are not feeling bereft.

Living is loving-

You can’t separate the two.

Loving is not conditional-

That’s how God created you.

Love is sincere-

It begins in your heart.

It is the fruit of the Spirit.

He promises never to depart.

Love truly can’t be explained.

It is best shown in action.

Sacrifice yourself for the good of others.

Sincerity is a heartfelt attraction.

We are being transformed by our Creator.

What an example He set for you and me.

Love in action, caring for others

Prepares us for eternity.

Know the Joy of Being Imperfect

5 Sep

From My Heart

When I first read the article on aging.
I truly wondered about the author’s age.
These are broad statements to make,
unless related to a calendar page.

“Older people are happier.
Being imperfect brings a sense of joy”
The author has a great sense of humor..
“Has society changed since you were a boy?”

“Longer life will improve quality of life”
Are you delusional?
“Aging increases knowledge”
If Alzheimer doesn’t make you institutional..

I have made my own observation about life..
Being imperfect is a natural state to be in..
Thank God, we have a Savior,
That should put an end to our chagrin

The Wise Old Owl

29 Aug

From My Heart

Years ago an anonymous writer

penned a short poem about the

merit of measuring our words.

“A wise old owl sat in an oak,

The more he saw the less he spoke.

The less he spoke the more he heard.

Why can’t we all be like

that wise old bird.”

There is a connection between wisdom

and limiting what we say.

It is wise to be a good listener

while holding our tongue at bay.

Be sensitive to the needs of the

one you are speaking to.

Listen to what their heart is saying

before expressing your point of view.

Footnote:

Although there is a time to be quiet

and a time to speak (Eccl.3;7)

choosing to speak less allows us to hear more.

Where Do I Go To Cry

                                    Life presents many challenges-
                                    When confronted, I honestly try,
But when bad things happen, and they surely do,
Where do I go to cry?
                                    It isn’t gender related,
nor is it ruled by a calendar page.
Bad things happen to good people
                                    everywhere,
                                    Regardless of sex or age.

Emotional tears are the body’s way
                                   of reducing stress-
                                   So let those tears flow
in times of sadness… or happiness.

                                  Mathew 5:4
                                  “Blessed are they that mourn,
                                  for they shall be comforted.”
                                  Psalm 30
“Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.”

You Are the Answer to Someone’s Prayer

15 Aug

From My Heart

Louise Gibson

author of Window Wonders

Someone prayed for a miracle-

Maybe that miracle is YOU.

A task, difficult for one-

Is so much easier with two!

Open the door of your heart-

Don’t you hear the cry?

“Will someone please help me?

I have no other measure to try.”

Reach out with compassion-

One day that plea may be yours.

God has created us in His own image.

We are the blessed who endures.

Some people can be difficult to love,

and so we don’t even try to care.

But God says, “Love them as I have loved you.

You’ll bring me glory as My love you share.”

“For we are His workmanship. created in

Christ Jesus for good works,

which God has prepared beforehand

that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10
