What does age look like

Getting old is inevitable-
but aging is optional.
How you are going to age is up to you.

As we get older
it increases our confidence.
There is a part of us that is eternal.
Try to keep a healthy point of view.

Don’t let your age put you in a box.
Exercise your gray matter.
A good sense of humor will see you through.

A friend of mine shared this with me.
I would like to pass it on to you.

“Older people do not decline mentally with age.
It just takes them longer to recall facts
because they have more information in
their brain, scientists believe.
Much like a computer struggles as the hard
drive gets full, so do humans take longer
to access information. it has been suggested.
Researchers say this slowing down is not the same
as cognitive decline. “The human brain works more
slowly in old age”, said Dr. Michael Ramscar, “but
only because we have stored more information
over time. “The brains of older people do not get weak.
On the contrary, they simply know more.”

(I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!)

Brains of elderly slow because they know so much

Do yourself a favor-

Smiling is good for you,

It slows down your heart  beat and reduces stress-

and lowers your blood pressure, too.

A smile is infectious.

It will always remove a frown.

Facial muscles will be raised up-

It’s the best face lift in town..

.

A smile can delight your heart-

and is great at lighting a soul..

Lift someone’s spirit today-

make smiling a top priority goal.

I put my theory to “the test”

The woman in the mirror was frowning at me-

I gave her the brightest smile I could muster-

and she smiled right back at me.

Numbers 6:25

“The Lord make His face to shine upon you,

and be gracious to you.”

Your smile could be a message of cheer from God

to a needy soul.

Where Are They Now

A young man walking through a cemetery came across this epitaph written on a tombstone:

“Pause, stranger, when you pass me by-
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you will be-
Prepare yourself to follow me.”

His reply: “To follow you, I’m not content-
Until I know which way you went!”

If you want to follow someone,
follow Christ, my friend.
He will lead you into paths of righteousness,
and His mercy has no end.

What we think about heaven
determines how we live today.
We can easily be led away from God’s purposes-
if we do not steadfastly pursue His way.

When things go wrong, as they often do-
How do you respond-
Do you pray it through?

It may depend on your expectancy,
Did you implore the Lord
your need to see?

Patience, dear friend,
the Lord knows our needs before we even ask Him.
He will supply those needs no matter how stark or grim.”

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for
the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Titus 2:11-13

The Fox and Hound Chase

I have to smile as I reminisce
about my “high school days”-
So many memories of good times and bad,
of friends, exams, and plays.

My transportation in those days
was a boy’s two-wheel bike-
It served me well for many years-
no choice but to ride or hike!

I planned a “Fox and Hound Chase”-
I was the Fox, naturally.
The plan was to ride ahead and post my signs-
clues of where I might be.

I had to be fast with the “hounds” on my trail-
I was having so much fun.
My plan was to be the first at the park-
After the chase I had won!

After posting my “CLUES”
and enjoying my fantasy-
Who won the chase?
It was not ME

The designated area for the big event
was Metropolitan Park-
where all the kids went!

We were to have a picnic-
and play baseball for fun.
But the secret got out-
to my chagrin- the hounds won!

By the time I arrived at the park,
the game was well under way.
Everyone laughed as I wandered in
and joined in the play!

Ah, but chivalry rose to
the forefront by far-
as the “Hounds” insisted
I ride home in their car!

A Young Woman in An Old Body

The young woman in me
keeps knocking on my memory.
“I don’t like what’s happening to you-
Remember what you USED to do?
Your transportation was a two-wheel bike-
until you reached “21”
and no longer had to hike

And your first car was a convertible-
very “sporty” for an adventurous girl!
But you have to accept reality-
tho young at heart,
your body’s not free.

You used to be 5’8
and 120 was your weight-
Now you’ve shrunk to 5′ 2
and you can’t stop what’s happening to you.”

“I refuse to be captive by a calendar page-
I’ll let my mind select my present age..
“Twenty one?” “No, that’s not realistic!”
Tho my experiences reflect my zeal,
Dear Lord, to be completely honest,
A “rocking chair” has great appeal”.

Angelic Rescue

When something happens that is unexplainable,
and excites our inner core-
It leaves you with a sense of awe,
and the desire to know more.

God tells us that “He will put His holy angels
in charge of us, to keep us in all our ways”-
At the time we are being challenged, though- negative thoughts create a haze.

I was driving home alone one night,
not late, but it was dark.
To avoid a lot of traffic I took a back road
where activity was stark.

I have driven this path many times,
But always during the day.
“As fate would have it, I missed my turn
but continued on my way.

It was a dark night, but street lights were few-
Suddenly I was filled with dread!
The road seemed to come to an end, and
dense woods were straight ahead.

“Dear Lord, I need your help,
I don’t know what to do.
There seems to be a ditch on either side,
and trees ahead obstruct my view.”

Two bright lights appeared ,
as a truck came into sight-
“Out of the woods, at this hour?
Lord, your Angel saved the night!

An angel? Yes, I have no doubt.
What other reason could there be
By His bright lights, I turned around
and continued on home safely

I was going to follow the truck a ways,
but it disappeared from sight.
Mission accomplished!!
An angel truly saved the night!

Psalm 34:4 “I sought the Lord, and He answered me
and delivered me from all my fears”.

You Are a Star

Being good isn't good enough
to meet another's expectations-
I'll be the best I can be,
But I have to be ME-
What do you see in YOUR reflections?

God created us just as we are-
He had a plan, don't you see.
In His plan for your life,
You are a STAR!,
But I will still remain Me!

Oh, but God has a plan for all of us-
even though we can't all have top billing.
On the "Stage of Life" we all have a part-
To serve takes a heart that is willing!

God, Himself, came to seek and to save-
What an example He set for you and me-
Lay down your life for your fellow man,
We are here to love and serve all humanity.

1 Samuel 7:3, 12:14 “Thou shall fear the Lord and serve Him.

The answer is in our attitude-
is how we view our life.
Do you let small things bother you?
That only leads to strife!
The proof is "in the pudding".
It doesn't happen overnight.
I, too, let things bother me-
That's why my hair is white!
Why did it take so long, Lord,
to recognize the need?
The Bible has the answers.
It is Your Word we need to read.
We all treasure love letters-
Their words we hide in our heart.
The Bible is God's love letter to us.
From His love He will never depart!

Deuteronomy 4:31 “For the Lord, thy God, is a merciful God. He will not forsake thee nor destroy thee.”

1 Chronicles 28:20 “And David said to Solomon, his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it.Fear not, nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God will be with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your manner of life be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have, for He hath said, I will never leave you or forsake you.”

P.S.  God honors His word even above His name.

Hiding Behind My Exterior

The young woman in me came out to express herself.
We bantered back and forth over issues "put on the shelf".
"You need to "lighten up", she said-
Let me have free reign.
I'll put a smile back on your face.
You'll forget about your pain.
Laughter is the best medicine-
and it won't cost you a thing.
It's actually infectious, you know-
Amazing what it will bring.
Instead of being philosophical,
always expressing your point of view-
Dwell on things that bring a smile
You'll be a younger YOU!"

So, I'll leave it up to you, dear friends-
I'm  truly not deranged.
I had a little talk with the Lord, you see-
Because of Him, I've changed.

Proverbs 17:22  “A merry heart doeth good like medicine.”

Proverbs 15:13 “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance.”

Eccl. 8:15 “Nothing better than to eat and be merry.”

P.S.  I am too blessed to complain!
