The Epitome of Love

“One word frees us of the weight and pain of life, that word is “love”

The irony of that quote is it was written before Christ by a

Greek Tragedian.

We are so blessed to know that God came in the flesh to redeem
us back unto himself.
That was true love.

I thrive on love.
There is promise in the air.
I stand on the word of God.
I see Him everywhere.

He is in the air I breathe-
His promises fill my soul.
Without Him I can do nothing,
With Him, I am whole.

We are all so different-
still all of God’s own plan.
I marvel how He leads us
to support our fellow man.

I thirst to hear the words you speak-
I long to know your soul.
Tho diverse in our interests-
Our similarities make us whole.

God’s Plan About Love

We are here to love, to serve God and our fellow man.
What greater purpose can there be than to meet
with God’s ultimate plan?

His purpose is to conform us to the image of His Son.
It is God who works in us His will to be done.

It is human to question God’s purpose and will.
Have faith to believe, dear friend.
Soul be still!

It is at the end of the day when my work is done
that I have time to reflect on what God has done.

It was in my struggle to understand
God’s purpose in allowing death and sorrow
that led to the answer, by way of the spirit,
to face my tomorrow.

The Key to Happiness is Not in Someone Else’s Pocket

28 Oct

From the Heart

Louise Gibson

We can’t control all the circumstances in life,
but we can control how we react.
An attitude of optimism lightens the load.
That truly is a fact.

Negativity is heavy,
like a backpack we should remove.
When we work on our attitude,
our whole demeanor will improve.

There is something more to life
than what we can see.
Who we really are
is our true identity.

If you want to be happy,
begin where you are.
Don’t wait for some Rapture
that’s future and far.
Begin to be joyous, determined to be glad,
and soon you’ll forget
that you ever were sad.

If Calories Didn’t Count

‘”The two biggest sellers in any book store
are the cook books and the diet books.

The cook book tells you how to prepare
the food, and the diet books tell you how
not to eat any of it.”
Andy Rooney

If calories didn’t count. we could eat whatever
we wanted
and the number on the scales wouldn’t mount.
If calories didn’t matter and wouldn’t make us
gain a pound,
We could throw away our scales,
and forget about growing round.

“Which book is in YOUR hand? : -)

When Do We Grow Old!

I woke up in the morning,
mind refreshed and full of hope.
There is so much I want to do-
all within my scope.

My mind is willing, my mind alert-
I’ll spring right out of bed.
My mind is saying, “Go girl”
but my back says, “Whoa” instead.

Ego! Yes, ego is the culprit
in this aging game we play.
I don’t mind saying “I’m 87″
But,” getting old??? “No way!”

“None are as old as those who
have outlived their enthusiasm”

Henry David Thoreau

There is more to life
than what we can see.
Who we really are
is our true identity.

Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by talents of others.
God created you to be unique!
He gave you special gifts of your own –
You are far more talented than you think.

We are all actors on the stage of life.
Study the script, my friend.
Notice that even the brevity of parts
doesn’t determine the end!

Do your best to honor the Lord –
Serve honestly and be fervent.
In the end you’ll hear the Master’s words,
“Welcome to the joy of the Lord,
good and faithful servant.”

Quote by Reverend Oliver G. Green
“Use what talents you have –
the woods would have little music
if no birds sang their song
except those who sang best.”

It Takes Time

Thank you, Lord, for your promises.
Thank you for your loving care.
You satisfy our every need.
Your presence is everywhere.

Patience is a trait that takes time to acquire.
It isn’t zapped into our being.
God uses situations as learning tools.
such as waiting for things we are not seeing.

It takes time to form relationships-
a bonding of two souls.
Patience is essential
in working toward our goals.

There is no substitute for friendship.
It begins with our Lord, above.
What a friend we have in Jesus.
The Cross is the symbol of love.

I want to follow in His footsteps
in helping my fellow man.
Even in my old age,
I know my Savior has a plan.

Keep looking up, dear friend.
That’s where our future lies.
Our physical body is subject to death-
but our soul never dies!

Make a Joyful Noise

“The holiest of all holidays are those kept

by ourselves in silence and apart.

The secret anniversaries of the heart.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I applied Longfellow’s words to my heart

and brought Christmas into view.

I decorated my Christmas tree.

I wish I could share it with you.

A beautiful glass cross adorns the top,

and tiny white angels express their song.

When I keep my thoughts on Jesus, our Lord,

I have Christmas all year long.

Procrastination

Today is the “tomorrow” that I thought about yesterday.
Then why is it said, “Tomorrow never comes”.
when it came today?

I have so much to do today,
I’ll have to think this through.
If I can’t complete it all,
Here’s what I’ll have to do.

I’ll set myself free from stress-
more time I’ll have to borrow.
I’ll reschedule today’s events-
“Thank God for tomorrow.”

P.S. I’m going to stop procrastinating-
(Once I get around to it.)

Do You Know?

When I cried out in my sorrow,
His presence came shining through.
Don’t ever suffer in silence.
Christ is always there for you.

Do you know that God smiles?
It’s recorded in His word.
That is so encouraging.
A fact I had never heard.

“When they were discouraged
I smiled and that encouraged them
and lightened their spirits.”
(Job 29:24 TLB)
