Don’t Forget to Say “I Love You”

The days pass so quickly and
Interests are so diversified-
But today my heart is heavy.
A dear friend of mine has died.

Take the time to tell them.
Let them know how much you care.
Don’t take it for granted,
for they may not be aware.

When you phrase the words, “I love you”
It brings comfort and joy to another’s soul.
Let communicating with others
be your foremost heartwarming goal.

People need people.
Listen with your heart to their plea.
“I don’t want to walk alone”-
There is such comfort in company.

Every day is precious-
A gift from our Lord above.
Walk with a grateful spirit.
Do all things in the spirit of love.

How OLD Would You Be If You Didn’t Know How Old You Are?

How OLD Would You Be

If You Didn’t Know How Old You Are?

I’d be old enough to know
that I should feed my spirit-
So my heart never wrinkles,
nourished by the thoughts within it.

No longer reminded of a chronological age,
I would not be bound by a calendar page.
I would let the young woman within have free reign.
Who knows what positive things I would gain.

Oh, I had better hurry.
I don’t want to be late,
You see, I have a very important date.

P.S.

Nothing strenuous, most things are “nix”.
My back reminds me I am 86!

This is The Day God Has Offered

1 Oct

My friends know that I enjoy rainy, gloomy days. This morning my friend Regina Puckett posted her daily poem and it is perfect for how I feel about rainy days.

This is The Day God Has Offered

by Regina Puckett

I welcomed in a rainy, disheartening fall day

Even though all it offered were hues of gray

I accepted it’s silent challenge to find the color

Somewhere among its gloomy leaden, pallor

Even though it tries so hard to hide the bliss

There’s joy in the way the rain and earth kiss

There’s hope in the water that soaks the ground

And there’s music in the wind and its rustling sound

I’ll dance today in the mist and with the rain

I’ll playBecause this is the day God has offered me today

Gratitude

I have learned to enjoy the little things-
there are so many of them.

I thank God for His blessings-
waking up each morning is one.
There is so much promise in the air,
So many victories to be won.

It is all age-related.
What is your expectancy?
To pass all the “tests” of the day-
Whatever they may be?

We all face challenges
that tax our existence-
but one must persevere
in spite of their persistence.

Hold on to your values-
Stand up for what you believe.
If God is at the forefront,
He will help you to achieve.

(Quote:}
“Enjoy the little things,
for one day you may look back
and realize they were the big things.”
Robert Brauilt

I first posted these thoughts on 8/31/2013
and I still feel they are relevant to today.

Evaluation

At the end of my days, how will God evaluate
the time spent with my fellow man?
Will I have satisfied the commission
of our Lord’s ultimate plan?

Will I have loved my neighbor
as well as myself?
Will my “Must do” list be completed,
or still found on the shelf?

Did I abandon the longings,
the dreams, the vision?
Did I give in to circumstance,
the need for decision?

The still small voice of the Spirit
breaks through.
“My child, stop fretting.
I’m not through with you.”

Looking Up

Life presents many challenges from birth to the grave,
But lift your thoughts to God above
He promises to save.

God fashioned us in our mother’s womb,
so I am certain He had a plan.
We were designed in His own image
to serve our fellow man.

When I was a child, I thought as a child-
striving always to please.
It took a lot of challenges
to set my heart at ease.

My heartfelt wish, as I was growing up
was to be a caring soul.
I desired all humanity
to make loving others their goal.

I know it is unrealistic
to expect Heaven here on earth-
But wouldn’t it be wonderful
if every soul felt its worth?

Reach out and “touch someone”-
A word of encouragement, or a smile will do.
Your kindness will be rewarded-
It will all come back to you.

Latch on to Love

When we let go of the negative
we can latch on to the positive,
and that positive emotion is love.
Love is like a healing balm.
Open your heart to receive it.
It comes from our Lord above.

Accept what you cannot change.
The circumstances wouldn’t have been different
by anything you could have done.
Love is forever.
With love battles are won.

Love shows up in so many ways.
It brings comfort and strength when we feel weak.
Hate doesn’t take you where love does.
It is the peace of God that we seek.

Everything you want is on the other side of fear.
Fear is the killer of dreams.
Rise above your circumstances, don’t stay under them.
Nothing is as bad as it seems.

You Matter

What keeps your heart beating-
What keeps your lungs filled with air?
Appreciate every breath you take.
Let God know how much you care.

Every day is a gift from above.
Every day is an opportunity to share.
Reach out to help someone in need.
The needs are everywhere.

Happiness is an inside job.
It stems from a grateful heart.
Lord, you keep on blessing and blessing.
You are our life, not something set apart.

My friend, you matter far more than you know.
Your smile, your attitude, a kind word,
can set another’s heart aglow.

Lord, if any little word of mine
can help another soul,
help me find that little word
to reach its needed goal.

Happiness is an inside job.It stems from-3

It’s the Voice You Don’t Want to Hear

The spiritual world is like a classroom.
Love?, or Fear?
Which voice are you going to listen to?
Which voice do you want to hear?

Our spirit is the part of us
that is drawn to hope-It will not give in to despair.
It is the life of us.
God’s promise is always there.

What is the difference between others betraying us
and us betraying ourself?
When your own choices harm you-
you are betraying yourself.

That is why we hold the Lord’s prayer
deep in our heart.
Begin your day with our Savior.
He promises never to leave or forsake us.
From your heart He will never depart.

Hurry…and Wait!

Why do we discipline ourselves to always be on time for appointments
when we know in our heart we will have to wait?

To me it is a matter of courtesy.
When we die, I know God will meet us at the Pearly Gate.
He is a God of perfection.
I don’t expect him to make us wait.

Jesus bids us “Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden
and I will give you rest.”
Such welcome words to a tired soul. It’s true.
I’ve already put him to the test.

Do you have a problem?
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Free yourself of worry.
You’ll find true peace and comfort there.
