  Even Nature Worships

I look through my kitchen window each day,
seeking, as I always do-
All the signs of God’s presence
in the soul-stirring scene that I view.

It never ceases to amaze me
that His presence is everywhere.
The Easter Lilies are radiant-
postural, as though in prayer.

They are programmed to bloom at Easter,
then close for another year.
Their role is to glorify the Savior-
then silently disappear.

Springtime is a season
of new life with a goal.
New leaves are forming, flowers are budding-
there is a stirring in my soul.

I read an interesting quote this week by Max Lucado that I would like to share with you.

“Next time a sunrise steals your breath, or a meadow of flower leaves you speechless, remain that way and say nothing, and listenas Heaven whispers, “Do you like it?  I did it just for You,”

The Secret to Happiness

From My Heart

Louise Gibson

author of Window Wonders;

We all harbor secrets
(facts set apart)
But I am compelled to share my secret –
It is a grateful heart.

Life presents many challenges –
We agree that this is true.
From birth to the grave circumstances change
And so does our point of view.

I am family oriented.
It was so important to me.
To raise and nurture children with love –
Became my top priority.

It took the death of my first born son
To draw my eyes to the cross.
The Lord didn’t do it to be mean –
Rather, He put meaning to my loss.

God didn’t ask us to understand him.
He only said, “trust and obey.”
I am so grateful for His promises.
He is “the truth, the light, the way.”

Footnote:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you” says the Lord.
“Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a Future and a Hope.”

Slaying the Giants in Your Life~Destroying Discouragement

Can you recognize the enemy?
There’s a battle to be won.
Know who you are fighting-
Your armor is the Son!

There are three ways to live,
Of this there is no doubt:
You can live out-
You can wear out, or
You can burn out!

It is erroneous to say
“working too hard is burnout”-
Working hard “at the right thing”
is what it is all about.

Bring everything out of that “anxiety closet”,
and expose it to the ” Light”-
When looked at as they truly are,
You can put them all to flight!

Emotions are treacherous advisors.
We need to be disciplined to stay on track.
Work can be wonderful therapy;
It will get your confidence back!

The Biblical story of David
can turn your life around.
Get your slingshot ready,
“Discouragement, you are going DOWN”.

Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble, Therefore, we will not fear. Though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

Where Are They Now

A young man walking through a cemetery came across this epitaph written on a tombstone:

“Pause, stranger, when you pass me by-
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you will be-
Prepare yourself to follow me.”

His reply: “To follow you, I’m not content-
Until I know which way you went!”

If you want to follow someone,
follow Christ, my friend.
He will lead you into paths of righteousness,
and His mercy has no end.

What we think about heaven
determines how we live today.
We can easily be led away from God’s purposes-
if we do not steadfastly pursue His way.

When things go wrong, as they often do-
How do you respond-
Do you pray it through?

It may depend on your expectancy,
Did you implore the Lord
your need to see?

Patience, dear friend,
the Lord knows our needs before we even ask Him.
He will supply those needs no matter how stark or grim.”

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for
the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The Fox and Hound Chase

I have to smile as I reminisce
about my “high school days”-
So many memories of good times and bad,
of friends, exams, and plays.

My transportation in those days
was a boy’s two-wheel bike-
It served me well for many years-
no choice but to ride or hike!

I planned a “Fox and Hound Chase”-
I was the Fox, naturally.
The plan was to ride ahead and post my signs-
clues of where I might be.

I had to be fast with the “hounds” on my trail-
I was having so much fun.
My plan was to be the first at the park-
After the chase I had won!

After posting my “CLUES”
and enjoying my fantasy-
Who won the chase?
It was not ME

The designated area for the big event
was Metropolitan Park-
where all the kids went!

We were to have a picnic-
and play baseball for fun.
But the secret got out-
to my chagrin- the hounds won!

By the time I arrived at the park,
the game was well under way.
Everyone laughed as I wandered in
and joined in the play!

Ah, but chivalry rose to
the forefront by far-
as the “Hounds” insisted
I ride home in their car!

My “Twirp” Date

Before you jump to the wrong conclusion,
my date was not a twerp in any way.
The word, rightly interpreted, means
“The Woman Is Requested to Pay”

I had purchased a ’46 Chevy Convertible,
But had to wait ’til my ” BIG Day”-
When “21” my dad drove me to pick up my car-
SO special in every way!

I lived in Akron, Ohio at the time,
February brought snow and ice-
To make matters worse, there are many hills,
Driving conditions are far from nice.

I drove to the fraternity house to pick up my date,
But I insisted he “take the wheel”.
Little did I know that he would do so for
the next 57 years-
that my affection he would steal!

We drove to the “Spanish Inn”.
romantic by candlelight-
We were determined not to let the weather
ruin our special night.

“Thank you, God, for the memories
that remain in my heart-
They are all part of my history-
happenings set apart.”

Friendship

Why do we seem drawn to certain people?
Isn’t it difficult to explain?
The chemistry is different-
but the bonding is the same.

We are God’s creation-
I know He had a plan..
With His Holy Spirit
He relates Himself to man.

He guides us in a mysterious way-
He truly knows what’s best.
Sometimes we blunder through and wonder,
“Lord, is this a test?”

God truly wants the best for us-
The battle has already been won.
All the Lord is endeavoring to do
Is conform us to the image of His Son.

When we meet a fellow Christian,
There is a meeting of the heart.
There is an immediate “bonding”-
A fellowship set apart.

If you have yet to meet our Savior-
Don’t waste another minute
Open up your heart to Him
and ask Him to come in it!

P.S. In your Golden Chain of Friendship,
Will you please count me a link?

The Cat Who Predicted Seizures

                           Tee Cee

Animals are such remarkable creatures-
often misunderstood.
Were it not for their independent personalities,
Cats might be naturals for all sorts of jobs.
“Service Cats”, if you would.

So far, however, they’ve firmly rejected
any such callings.

All save for one.

The cat in question is named Tee Cee,
who has earned International fame
for his uncanny ability to predict
epileptic seizures of his owner.
Modestly, he answers to his name.

Ironically, the English feline had endured
quite a bit at the hands of a human who
stuffed Tee Cee and his littermates in a
box and tossed it in a river.

He was rescued and taken to an adoption center
where he became the pet of Michael Edmunds.
a man who suffers from an extremely dangerous
and unpredictable form of epilepsy..
The disorder causes sudden violent seizures
that strike without warning.

The problem is so serious that Edmonds can’t leave
home unescorted for fear of having an attack at
some unexpected time or place.
Edmunds’ new cat provided almost providential
help.

Tee Cee took a great deal of interest in his new owner-
particularly when he was about to seize.

This was remarkable, because Edmonds displays
no symptoms prior to attacks…or, at least, none
detectable by humans.

“We noticed that Tee Cee began staring at my stepfather\
prior to a seizure and then ran to my mother to let her know all
is not well, acting as an early warning system.”

Edmund’s stepdaughter, Samantha Laidler, told the BBC.,
“Once assistance arrives, Tee Cee doesn’t leave Michael’s
side until he regains consciousness, and his warnings have
proved invaluable to the family.”

The behavior was so unexpected that it took a while for
family members to make the connection between the cat’s
staring sessions and Edmonds’ epileptic fits. But once the link
was established the fame of the former stray spread far and wide.

In 2006 he was nominated for a prestigious
“Rescue Cat of the Year Award”-
quite an accomplishment for a feline who was once thrown
away as garbage.

P.S. Corky and Angel, my little feline friends, are holding their headsup higher, too. They may never receive public recognition for their loyalty or rescue service, but they definitely deserve recognition from me. There is nothing that will bring one’s blood pressure down like a purring cat against your legs or lying peacefully on your lap  They look up at me with eyes that seem to say “Thank you.  I love you, too”

What Do YOU Call Him

Oh, my Lord, my God, my Savior, my Friend-
Blessed Redeemer, you will abide to the end.
(Mark 8:27, 29)

How I wish conditions had been different.
that Christ had been glorified.
After all, it is His birth we celebrate.
It is in Him we choose to abide.

It is more blessed to give than to receive-
I confess it was not always this way.
As a child, my thoughts were full of fantasy-
It was all about Santa and his sleigh.

My spiritual eyes were opened as I aged.
I became aware of the presence of God.
Why are parents reluctant to discuss Christ?
I find that truly odd.

That God humbled Himself and came to earth as a child-
I am sincerely awed!
Dear Jesus, it is Your birth we celebrate.
“Happy Birthday. dear Lord, my God!
