Puppy Love

I am an animal lover.

They all need tender loving care.

When I come across a story such as this,

I truly have a need to share..

“Last spring a dog became stranded

in the water at the bottom of a canal.

A passerby. seeing the pooch whimpering

and trying to climb to satety, scaled  down

the wall, jumped into the water, pulled the

dog out by he scuff of the neck, and carried

it back up to dry land.. The dog ran away and

shook itself, but then it quickly returned,

ran to its rescuer, and showered the man

with lots of nuzzles and licks.

The video of the grateful canine became

a sensation.

Sometimes we can learn a lesson

from our four-footed friends.

Everyone who is in Christ has been rescued.

Have you returned to the Savior to thank Him,

to praise His Holy name?”

Jesus once healed ten lepers,

but only one came back with thanksgiving.

If you have been to the cross,

you have reason to praise Him.

He has given you purpose for living.

We are the most blessed people on earth.

God has not promised skies always blue,

but even in tumultuous times,

He has promised never to forsake you.

Know God, Know Hope No God, No Hope

What a difference the spelling makes.

To know Him is to love Him, and others.

To love Him is to serve Him,

as we reach out to our brothers.

If you have yet to meet Him,

here is all you have to do.

Confess you are a sinner-

He’s waiting at the cross for you.

Hang on to hope, as on Jesus you wait.

“I will go before you and make

the crooked paths straight”. Isaiah 45.

No God  –  No hope,

I can’t imagine such a scenario.

Why?  My heart is too full of love,

since Jesus I came to know!

“Therefore, having been justified by faith,

we have peace with God through our

Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have

access by faith into this grace in which we stand,

and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:1,2

WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT?

I am reminded that an old saint was asked.,

‘Which is the more important,

reading God’s word or praying?”

To which he replied,

“Which is more important to a bird,

the right wing or the left?”

A. W. Tozer.

Pray without ceasing  1 Th. 5:17

‘KEEP ON KEEPING ON”

A river cuts through rock,

not because of it’s strength,

but because of its persistence.

Jim Watkins actor born 1944

I, too, want to forge ahead.

I’ll keep my eyes on Jesus

and His never failing assistance.

There is no use in carrying around “worry “and ” regret”,

they only weigh you down.

Keep yourself open to “hope” and to “love”.

A smile will replace a frown.

Winning Against Worry

All the water in the world,
however hard it tried,
could never sink a ship
unless it got inside.
All the hardships of this world
might wear you pretty thin-
But they won’t hurt you one least bit
unless you let them in.
(Anonymous)

Lord, why did it take so long
to reach this plateau-
to savor the moment I am in?
An acceptance of things I cannot change
has wondrously eased my chagrin.

The “serenity prayer” holds such wisdom-
Simply apply it to your heart.
God has not promised skies always blue,
But from our heart He will never depart.

There is no use in carrying around “worry and regret”.
They only weigh you down.
Always keep yourself open to hope and to love.
A smile will replace a frown

Make these words your battle cry
as you take on the Giant of Worry.
Louise Gibson

“Don’t dwell on tomorrow’s stress
Jesus told us that “tomorrow will take
care of itself.” (Mathew 6:24)

“Look inside, be kind to yourself”
Psalm 63:3 “Thy loving kindness is better than life.”

” The night doesn’t last forever,
and tomorrow will surely come.”

“Worry about nothing-
Pray about everything”

“When God pushes you to the edge,
trust Him fully, because only two things can happen.
Either He will catch you when you fall,
or He will teach you how to fly”.

A Merry Heart copy

Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like medicine”
And it won’t cost you a thing..
It’s actually infectious, you know.-
Amazing what it will bring.

In times of suffering we must always choose
to ” walk in the light”.
We must mind our attitude by mending our thoughts.
A smile is a welcome sight.

I was “put to the test” this morning
when my son needed a ride.
I had had a surgical procedure on my face,
so the scar I could not hide,

He meant to be kind as he candidly remarked,
“It really doesn’t look bad, Mom,
It fits in with the lines in your face:”
(Remember your own words, girl-
The ink you can’t erase),

: – )

So, I smiled in amusement
And thanked the Lord above.
It truly isn’t “how we look”-
The important thing is love.

Keep Looking Up!

My daughters and I are bonded in love.
as we stand at the foot of the cross..
Each is blessed in so many ways-
Yet all have suffered loss.

Everyone is surrounded by distractions every day.
It can be easy to let them cloud our vision.
Keep your focus on Christ, dear friend.
It will help you make the right decision.

When you come to know Him,
Constant and abiding, always the same,
Bring glory, praise and honor
to His precious name..

Hear the Cry?

Open your front door –

Just stand there and listen.

Do you hear it?

Believe me, it is there!

This time, close your door –

Turn off the television.

Listen to the sounds in your own home.

Hear it? Sure you do — It’s everywhere!

To be certain, listen to your own heart.

You hear that?

It’s unmistakable –

It’s coming through loud and clear.

“I want to be loved!”

But wait, there’s more!

“And I want to love!”

There’s no need so dear.

The world cries out for love that heals,

unites and inspires.

To love and be loved

is a basic need that every soul desires.

This is no news to God.

He created us for love.

Our love for God and our neighbor

fulfills the law of God above.

Footnote:

“Love is like the 5 loaves and 2 fishes.

It doesn’t start to multiply

until you give it away.”

The Joy of Encouragement

Written applause carries a special

power all its own.

It is tangible evidence of appreciation

that can never be overthrown.

Penned praise can be savored.

It can bring joy to a heart.

Email may be a time saver –

But a handwritten note is set apart.

Has someone done you a favor,

even “gone the extra mile?”

Touch their heart with a letter

It makes their effort worthwhile.

We don’t do “good works” to be praised,

that is truly not our intention.

God created us to serve our fellow man.

It is heartfelt intervention.

“H-m-m-m Wait a minute, please!”

This lady has changed her mind –

While penning my thoughts I received 3 emails,

Each one of a kind.

One, especially, touched my heart.

Its words I want to savor.

I simply pushed the “print” button

And did myself a favor.

The lesson I just learned is so true.

It isn’t important “how” your communicate –

Just be sure you do!

The Touch of the Master’s Hand

25 Apr

From My Heart

Louise Gibson

author of Window Wonders

I wasn’t designed to be you,
nor you to be like me.
Isn’t that refreshing?
We are designed for eternity.

Our gifts from God
are to help our fellow man.
When you see a need-
supply it the best you can.

The following poem by Myra B. Welch
depicts it so beautifully.

THE TOUCH OF THE MASTER’S HAND

“Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer
Thought it scarcely worth his while
To waste much time on the old violin,
But held it up with a smile.
“What am I bidden, good folks”, he cried,
“Who’ll start the bidding for me?”
“A dollar, a dollar.” then two! Only two?
Two dollars, and who’ll maker it three?
Three dollars, once; three dollars, twice;
Going for three”…But no,
From the room, far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow:
Then wiping the dust from the old violin.
and tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said, “What am I bid for the old violin?”
And he held it up with the bow.
“A thousand dollars, and who’ll make it two?
Two thousand! And who’ll make it three?
Three thousand, once; three thousand, twice:
And going and gone”, said he.

The people cheered, but some of them cried,
“We do not quite understand.
What changed it’s worth?” Swift came the reply.
“The touch of a master’s hand.”

And many a man with life out of tune,
and battered and scarred with sin,
Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd-
Much like the old violin.
A “mess of potage”, a glass of wine:
A game–and he travels on.
He is “going” once, and “going” twice,
He’s ” going” and almost “gone”.
But the Master comes and the foolish crowd
Never can quite understand
The worth of a soul and the change that’s wrought
By the touch of the Master’s hand.

The Secret to Happiness

4 Apr

From My Heart

Louise Gibson

author of Window Wonders;

We all harbor secrets
(facts set apart)
But I am compelled to share my secret –
It is a grateful heart.

Life presents many challenges –
We agree that this is true.
From birth to the grave circumstances change
And so does our point of view.

I am family oriented.
It was so important to me.
To raise and nurture children with love –
Became my top priority.

It took the death of my first born son
To draw my eyes to the cross.
The Lord didn’t do it to be mean –
Rather, He put meaning to my loss.

God didn’t ask us to understand him.
He only said, “trust and obey.”
I am so grateful for His promises.
He is “the truth, the light, the way.”

Footnote:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you” says the Lord.
“Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a Future and a Hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11 World English Bible
