People need people to validate their dreams.
No one is independent-
We all need someone, it seems.

 

A speaker needs a listener
to the language of his heart.
We all need recognition-
true listening is an art.

 

Do you truly sense the hunger
when a person speaks to you-
Or do you struggle with impatience
to express your point of view?

 

We may not all be Hemingways
or famous for our prose-
But the need for self-expression
is something everyone knows.

The Disease to Please

I am suffering a debilitating disease-
Self diagnosed as “The disease to please”.

 

I can’t even tell you when it began-
I never knew it was common to man.

 

It compels you to say “Yes” to every request-
It silently steals your time and your zest!

 

I struggled for years to form the word “No”-
When I finally did, it amazed me so.

 

I truly believe that is the cure for me-
That one little word has set me free!

 

Time is so precious, I must take control-
New freedom for mind, spirit and soul.

 

Be aware, dear friends, I am working on me.
No longer a prisoner to “yes”- I am free!

 

“Pardon me, what was it that you wanted to know?
I can’t hear you, but the answer is “No”!

Visualize Yourself As Water. Keep On Keeping On

A river cuts through rock,
not because of its strength,
but because of its persistence.
We, too, need to forge ahead.
Keep your eyes on Jesus
and His never failing assistance.

 

There is no point in carrying
around worry and regret.
They only weigh you down.
Keep yourself open to hope and to love.
A smile will replace a frown.

 

Water is so refreshing-
necessary for life.
Jesus is our Living Water.
Trust Him to put an end to strife.

Somewhere there’s a place for me-
A place I have a need to be.
A new plateau, a goal to meet-
Purpose, direction, without defeat.

 

Oh God, give me strength
to greet each day-
with a cheerful countenance.
Don’t let me sway.

 

Please let me focus
on the issues of life
That bring joy to others,
that relieve their strife.

 

To have victory over
the enemy called “Fear”-
The energy and stamina
to persevere!

The age I am is a welcome friend-

It is so patient, no rush to the end.

 

One day at a time is sufficient for me
to glean the promises of God eternally.

 

I want so much to continue to grow-
It is Christ, my Savior, I want to know.

 

Age is a gift from our Lord above.
Treasure the memories of His infinite love.

 

One rule I have made as I age.
“Don’t let your life be ruled by a calendar page”.

 

P.S. As long as God gives you life,

What does a mother say to her children
at the end of her days-
Those she has loved in so many ways?

 

“Oh, what joy I felt in my heart
when I was informed that new life
had its start.

 

Each of you was a blessing from above-
a gift of God-
the symbol of love.

 

Each is unique-
Not one is the same.
You are loved and admired
for who you are; what you became.

 

Your talents are many-
Thank God for each one.
They will nurture your being
when the day is done.

 

God will supply the strength
to face each new day-
I will be with you in spirit
every step of the way.

The Red Light Will Change-Be Patient

We suffer when we are not in control.
It affects our very being.
“Lord, I really wanted a sunny day,
but fog is all I am seeing.”

 

We are prone to create our own little world.
The old “normal” has to fall apart.
“We can’t go forward, Lord.
unless we have a change of heart.”

 

Accept the present moment.
Be patient, the red light will change.
God uses those “waiting moments”-
Our circumstances He will arrange.

 

Religion is one of the safest places
to hide from God.
Ego wants to be in control.
Forget about rituals and man made rules.
Make communing with God your goal.

 

How comforting to know
God doesn’t love you because you are good.
God loves you because God is good.
That’s why I love Him so.

People need people-
It’s embedded in our soul.
But to be contented when by yourself
Is a God-given role.

 

” My peace I give to you”,
proclaims the Lord of Glory”.
Christ is our sufficiency.
It’s an oft-repeated story.

 

Christ advises, “To have friends,
show yourself friendly.”
Who can resist a smile?
And look at the person straight in the eye.
It will be worth your while.

The pillars are a strong foundation
in any relationship.
On their strength we do depend.
The caterpillars crawl in and out,
failing to connect.
They dream to be a butterfly in the end.

 

God created all of us,
and He did it all with vision.
I don’t have your attributes-
That was God’s decision.

 

I will strive to be the best I can
with what God has allotted me.
To be more like our Maker,
That is our destiny.

The Curve in the Road

People need people.

That was God’s ultimate plan

when He created the earth

and related Himself to man.

 

To love and be loved

is the theme of every love song.

Open your heart to welcome it.

True love can heal a wrong.

 

God didn’t design us to live alone.

That’s why Adam was given a mate.

Open your heart to receive love.

You are robbing yourself if you wait.

 

We can support one another in all that we do,

and offer help when there is a need.

We all aspire to find that “curve in the road”

that satisfies the need to succeed.
