DiVoran Lites

Joel 2:25+

I will restore or replace for you the years that the locusts have eaten. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you, and my people shall never be put to shame, and afterward, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will dream dreams and see visions. 

DiVoran has been writing for most of her life. Her first attempt at a story was when she was seven years old and her mother got a new typewriter. DiVoran got to use it and when her dad saw her writing he asked what she was writing about. DiVoran answered that she was writing the story of her life. Her dad’s only comment was, “Well, it’s going to be a very short story.” After most of a lifetime of writing and helping other writers, DiVoran finally launched her own dream which was to write a novel of her own. She now has her Florida Springs trilogy and her novel, a Christian Western Romance, Go West available on Amazon. When speaking about her road to publication, she gives thanks to the Lord for all the people who helped her grow and learn.  She says, “I could never have done it by myself, but when I got going everything fell beautifully into place, and I was glad I had started on my dream.”

Compassion and love are what matters
Reach out to a needy soul.
There is such a hunger for recognition
Make communication your goal.

 

People need people.
Listen with your heart to this plea.
“I don’t want to walk alone.”
There is such comfort in company.

 

Every day is a blessing
that comes from our Lord above.
Walk with a grateful spirit.
Do all things in the spirit of love.

 

I recognize that bad things happen,
Most of which we cannot comprehend.
But then, we are not made to understand it.
Try to be an optimist to the end.

 

When you accept the things you cannot change
You will dwell on things worthwhile.
Put on a happy face –
You are never fully dressed until you smile.

Can You Have Too Much to be Thankful For

I'm a winner

Since my mother passed away in 2001 Thanksgiving has been a difficult holiday for me. Not only did I loose my mother, the dynamics of the family holiday were broken. Instead of being a time of family, woman chatter in the kitchen and laughter, suddenly it was just me, my husband and daughter. It was devastating

Today  I sit with my overfull  stomach, trying to list what I am thankful for. The only dramatic event that happened this year is that my son was finally able to have a much-needed surgery. This is a huge praise to my heavenly Father as my son has no insurance and he was blessed to receive top-notch medical care. Still with no other big drama, I concluded that I have too much to list. I have a family that loves me, I have eyes that see, ears that hear and even though I limp sometimes, I have limbs that work. I am outrageously rich with good friends who love me and accept me and my quirks. To top this off, I know to the core of my being that I am uniquely created by God for His purpose. He loves me beyond measure and there is nothing that can separate me from His love

 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:

They kill us in cold blood because they hate you.
We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.

None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

I couldn’t end this without giving thanks for my faithful friends who write for this blog week end and week out. I have learned much from them. So from all of us

What Makes God Anxious

What makes God anxious?  The word anxious tends to make one think of anxiety but I never thought to  link the words anxious and God together.

This morning, I read a devotional by David Wilkerson titled “The Blessings of Goodness” The scripture that really stood out for me was Isaiah 65:24

It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will “hear”.

David Wilkerson explained “This verse provides us with an incredible picture of our Lord’s love for us. Evidently He is so anxious to bless us, so ready to fulfill His loving-kindness in our lives, that He cannot wait for us to tell him our needs. He jumps in and performs acts of mercy, grace and love toward us before we even ask-and that is a supreme pleasure to Him”

Imagine, God  can hardly wait to  provide for us! Can you recall a time when God had already placed someone or something in your life before you even knew you had a need? I have and it thrills my heart, every time.
