Worries

21 Mar

My Take

DIVoran Lites

Worries are a cause for sin.

Right away, when I begin

I carry them where they’ll harm,

And cause my soul the most alarm.

God says he wants to have the task

Of doing more than I can ask.

“Admit it, daughter, come to me.

I’ll share new thoughts and set you free.”

DiVoran has been writing for most of her life. Her first attempt at a story was when she was seven years old and her mother got a new typewriter. DiVoran got to use it and when her dad saw her writing he asked what she was writing about. DiVoran answered that she was writing the story of her life. Her dad’s only comment was, “Well, it’s going to be a very short story.” After most of a lifetime of writing and helping other writers, DiVoran finally launched her own dream which was to write a novel of her own. She now has her Florida Springs trilogy and her novel, a Christian Western Romance, Go West available on Amazon. When speaking about her road to publication, she gives thanks to the Lord for all the people who helped her grow and learn.  She says, “I could never have done it by myself, but when I got going everything fell beautifully into place, and I was glad I had started on my dream.”

When sudden angers flare,

Maybe you don’t care.

And I don’t want to share

There comes a time to stop.

Perhaps not all was said,

But it is time for bed.

Don’t keep it in your heart

Each evening we must part

And put it all to rest

Peaceful sleep is  best

Though we don’t agree

I love you; you love me

Sometimes that is enough

Though marriage can be tough

Tomorrow we’ll be new.

Morning

Waking up, starting day,

Work a bit then some play.

Ticking clock, bathing cat,

Sounds, zounds, where’s my hat?

Listen close to everything

You can hear the church bells ring.

Night

When it’s time to go to sleep

From the covers I will peep.

Soft white blankets warm my feet.

I am dreaming what to eat.

Stars twinkle through the night.

Waiting for the morning light.

Seventy-one years old:

Joys, a few tears,

Splashing in streams,

So good it seems,

Galloping horses,

Eating six courses,

One baby- two,

One each, me, you,

Sours and sweets,

Chocolate treats,

Trips far away,

Go home and stay,

Jesus, Holy Spirit, come

Into my life today.

Fill me with your presence

Show my feet your way.

Fill me with your light

As you brighten up my day

You will stay within me always

Loving all the way.

You are oh so welcome

Keep me in your sight

When I do a wrong

You help to set it right.

I know that you do love me

And want all for my best

I always come to ask you

For my peace and for my rest

Praise Team

My Take

Holding the mic up close to my face,

I start to sing with rhythm and grace

Ronisha drums a fine boogie beat

I need to dance; I’m moving my feet

Although the hymn is archaic and old

Our Neicia’s beat is  strong and bold

Her daddy sings on the praise team, too

The Spirit flows around and through

The Baker sisters, no longer teens,

Are here with Mom as tambourine queens.

“Get in the box,” poet yelled.

“I don’t fit,” poem snapped.

“You must play by the rules,

Must get it right,

Must use rhythm and rhyme.”

“I won’t” poem stamped its foot.

“I’ll make you, see if I don’t”

The poet grabbed the poem by its skinny neck.

And stuffed it in the box until it stopped screaming.

Alas, it will return tomorrow.

Sudden thoughts glisten and leap,

Leaving the land where they dream,

Glimmer and sparkle (needing to strive)

Like salmon swimming upstream.

Walking home, all ages there

Talking easy, not a care.

Six-year-olds through big eleven.

Sunny day, what a Heaven

“I am black. Don’t you see?”

“I am white; you’re you, I’m me.”

“Can I ride the bike a while?”

“You can ride it for a smile.”
