Bridget’s Mustang

Trader come down the draw,

Truck, trailer, red cloud dust.

I saw he had a filly,

And own her, that I must.

“I’ll take that paint;” I say,

“It looks like she’s got soul.

I’ll get a stallion in,

Next year we’ll have a foal.”

“You keep an eye on her,

“She’s mustang through and through,

A wild one from the range.

Foal next year? Maybe two.

“You call me ‘bout that horse,”

The trader wasn’t done.

You need to talk ‘round here.

It’s all that makes life fun.

Do You Know?

When I cried out in my sorrow,
His presence came shining through.
Don’t ever suffer in silence.
Christ is always there for you.

Do you know that God smiles?
It’s recorded in His word.
That is so encouraging.
A fact I had never heard.

“When they were discouraged
I smiled and that encouraged them
and lightened their spirits.”
(Job 29:24 TLB)

Christmas Park

I danced once to a fiddle.

Bill smiled, the fiddle-man played.

I stepped and swirled in a picnic pavilion

No one else in the park

No one said a word

One fine day.

Keep Your Eyes on the One Who is Invisible

As a child, who did you go to for answers?
As a teenager, who was your “go-to” friend?
As an adult, do you have a mentor who helps you
find answers you seek?
You can engage the wisest person in the universe
as your councilor to the end.

(Without council, plans go awry,
but in the multitude of councilors
they are established. Proverbs 15:22)

Move in the direction of life, not fear.
Stand on the promises of God, our Savior,
He promised to always be near.

If you are feeling “in the dark”,
look up to “The Light”.
Keep your eyes on the one who is invisible,
He will guide you safely through the night

The Fountain of Youth

My Take

DiVoran Lites

fountain of youth

I would like:
To snorkel around the Fountain of Youth looking for friendly perch.
I would like:
To coast down a long, winding hill on a bicycle.
I would like:
To gallop across a prairie on an appaloosa.
I would like:
To dance the polka around a gymnasium floor.
I would like:
To share a banana-split at a soda-fountain.

But for now:
I see, hear, chew,
Smile, laugh, read,
Bake potatoes, make tea,
And slow-dance on shiny vinyl

I sing too:
“One Day at a Time”

What Works for You?

Sometimes it is a dream that keeps us going-
the root of a thought that keeps on growing and growing.
Or, are you motivated by others?
You strive to meet their goals for you.
Just remember, it’s important to yourself be true.
it will only lead to strife.

God created you to be You.
He is the one who gave you talent.
He is the one who gave you life.
When you struggle to be another,
it will only lead to strife.

Trust in the Lord with your whole heart.
He wants the best for you.
When you are doing what you love,
God is saying “Yes” to you.

Don’t let failure define you.
Hold on to your vision.
Ask the Lord to guide you
in making the right decision.

When you are doing what you love,
it excites your inner core.
It energizes creativity
and allows you to do more.

Keep in mind, your biggest cheerleader
in life is you.
Choose a positive attitude in reaching your goals
and watch you dreams come true.

Let your dream be bigger than your fear.
Hold on to your vision and persevere.
The fuel for your journey is a spark.
By perseverance the snail reached the ark.

Love always perseveres;
a force strong and true.
It motivates your best interests
and brings out the best in you.

Don’t despise the day of small things.
It is the small thing that forms
the framework of our day.
Keep an attitude of gratitude
as the Lord leads you to do all things His way.

Father Jean Nicholas Grou wrote:
“Little things come daily, hourly, within our reach,
and they are no less calculated to set forward
our growth in holiness than are the greater occasions
which occur but rarely. Moreover, fidelity in trifles,
and an earnest seeking to please God in little matters
is a test of real devotion and love. Let your aim be
to please our dear Lord perfectly in little things.”

You Are a Star!

We can’t all be in the Olympics,
(nor do I want to be)
In spite of the expectations of others.
I truly just want to be me!

Being good isn’t good enough
to meet another’s expectations.
I’ll be the best I can be,
but I have to be Me.
“What do you see in your reflections?

God created us just as we are.
He had a plan, don’t you see?
In His plan for your life You are a Star!
But I will still remain me!

Oh,but God has a plan for all of us,
Even though we can’t all have top billing.
On the “Stage of Life” we all have a part.
To serve takes a heart that is willing.

God, Himself, came to seek and to save.
What an example He set for you and me.
Lay down your life for your fellow man.
We are here to serve all humanity.

1 Samuel 12;14 “Thou shall fear the Lord and serve Him”.

The Joy of Encouragement

What is loneliness?
It’s an unanswered cry for love.
Everyone needs someone.
Love stems from our Lord above.

What is a wounded soul,
but one aching for hope.
Reach out with a helping hand-
You will help the hurting to cope.

Good encouragers have to be genuine.
“Let love be without hypocrisy” (Romans 12:9)
When you lift up the defeated,
it is Christ that all will see.

“Sometimes you think you’re being buried,
when you’re really being planted.
God is using this season to grow you.”
Unashamed Impact

Smile

From the Heart

Do yourself a favor-
Smiling is good for you.
It slows down your heart beat and reduces stress,
and lowers your blood pressure, too.

A smile can delight your heart,
and is great at lighting a soul.
Lift someone’s spirit today-
Make smiling a top priority goal.

A smile is infectious-
It will always remove a frown.
Facial muscles will be raised up-
It’s the best “face lift” in town.

I put my theory to “the test”.
The woman in the mirror was frowning at me.
I gave her the brightest smile I could muster-
and she smiled right back at me!

Numbers 6:25
“The Lord make His face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you.”

Your smile could be a message of cheer
from God to a needy soul
