On the Porch
Onisha Ellis
Last night I began to hear positive news about the Coronavirus. It was exciting. Sadly I also heard the news of a friend’s mother passing a week after her father in law and another friend whose mother was taken by ambulance to hospital with pneumonia.
I am thankful there is one piece of good news that never has a downside. The news of the empty tomb. And because of the empty tomb we have hope. God had a plan!

“For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; and all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” (Isaiah 64:6)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
“He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)
“For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” (Romans 5:10)
“For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God.” (1 Peter 3:18a)
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)
That’s right. Salvation has no downside. No one should be afraid to trust Jesus, Father God, and Holy Spirit for they love us more than anyone else ever could.

Praise God for His word and promises of salvation and eternal life with Him!! Thank God for His reassurances and hope (absolute assurance) in His gift of salvation and eternal life. I am so thankful that I am His child – that He has allowed me to be His child. And I am so very eager to know that I will live with Him throughout eternity. May God bless you, in your ministry through oldthingsrnew!!

We have been so blessed to have peace, even when anxiety arises. To have joy, even when I don’t feel it. To know that life is simply the rehearsal for entering into His gates with thanksgiving and praise.
