From the Heart
Louise Gibson
I have to be me!
I am fighting a battle of resistance.
I have to be me, in spite of insistence.
The world is doing its best night and day
to alter my thinking, to follow its way.
Commercials tell me what I should buy.
Etiquette dictates the “how” and the “why”
Experience has proven to be my friend.
My values I no longer have to defend.
Don’t try to make me an image of you.
It is so refreshing to have one’s own view.
I love this poem, as I love all of your work. There are so many powerful influences pushing us to change ourselves, and you are so right. Experience needs to guide us.

DAWN, i AM ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED TO HEAR FROM YOU. THANK YOU FOR COMMENTING. THERE IS AN ADVANTAGE IN REACHING A RIPE OLD AGE. I AM NOT INTIMIDATED BY SOCIETY AS STRICTLY AS I WAS WHEN YOUNGER WHEN I SUFFERED FROM THE “DISEASE TO PLEASE”. MY GOAL AT PRESENT IS TO PLEASE OUR LORD AND STRIVE TO DO HIS WILL.
GOD BLESS YOU, DEAR ONE.
‘LOVE YOU!

THANK YOU, BECKY. BEING YOURSELF, OR AT LEAST BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS YOUR FEELINGS OR HONEST OPINIONS IS SO IMPORTANT…TREASURE THE MOMENTS OF OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO.
