Be Still Means Stop Striving

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us. Who could defend us better? The God of Israel (our personal God)

See to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Because God is our refuge (fortress and strength, we need not fear. Even when natural disasters strike (Ps 46:2-3.) 

Even during national conflicts 

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us. Who could defend us better? The God of Israel is our fortress. What better protection could we have? God is also working to end all wars. He will win and be exalted in the end, which will surely come. 

The nations will be still and know He is God; it means they should stop striving and lay their arms down. God will fight and eventually end all conflicts. Isaiah 2 is a parallel passage describing the latter days when metal will be used for farming and fishing tools, not weapons. We can personalize this psalm by remembering that God will fight our battles. Stop striving and know that He is God our refuge and strength. 

Almighty God, I run to You for refuge; I depend on You for strength, remembering to let God fight our battles. Stop striving and know that He is God, our refuge and strength. 

Almighty God, I run to You for refuge. I depend on You for strength. Help me to stop fighting for my rights and let you be God! I rest in you.

DiVoran Lites

In the night season, the woman rises and sets food on the table for hungry people in her house and for others.

She sets her heart upon a nation and takes it as her own, carrying it within her.

She labors there to plant the living vines. She wraps herself in strength, might, and power in all her works.

She tastes and experiences a better substance, and her shining light will not be extinguished, no matter how dark the night is.

She stretches her hands to help those in need and lays hold of the wheels of government!

Proverbs:21-24

The lovers of God who chase after righteousness will find all their dreams come true: an abundant life drenched with favor and a fountain that overflows with satisfaction.

A warrior filled with wisdom ascends into the high place and releases regional breakthroughs, bringing down the strongholds of the mighty!

Watch your words and be careful what you say; you’ll be surprised how few troubles you’ll have today.

Proverbs 8:22-30

I was there initially, for God possessed me before he created the universe.

From eternity past, I was set in place before the world began.

I was anointed from the beginning.

Before the ocean depths were poured out and glorious fountains overflowed with water, I was there, dancing!

Even before one mountain had been sculpted or one hill was raised, I was dancing! When he created the earth, the fields, even the first atom of dust, I was already there.

When he hung the tapestry of the heavens and stretched out the earth’s horizon when the clouds and skies were set in place, the subterranean fountains began to flow strong. I was already there.

Proverbs 5:20-24

Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything I teach you.

And pay attention to everything I have to say.

Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit.

Then, as you unwrap my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.

So, above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are.

Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being. For from there flows the wellspring of life.

Pay close attention, my child, to your father’s wise words, and never forget your mother’s instructions. Their insight will bring you success, adorning you with grace-filled thoughts and giving you reins to guide your decisions.

Proverbs 2:8-9  

Wisdom is a gift from a generous God; every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you.

The Lord has a hidden storehouse of wisdom accessible to his godly lovers. He becomes your bodyguard as you follow his ways, protecting and guarding you as you choose what is right. 

Then, you will do everything properly and fairly and be empowered to make the right decisions as you walk into your destiny.

Free from fear, confident, and courageous, you will rest unafraid and sheltered during the storms of life.

His godly lovers triumph in the glory of God, and their joyful praises will rise even while others sleep. God’s high and holy praises fill their mouths, for their shouted praises are their weapons of war!

Proverbs  3:21-24

My child, never drift off course from 

These two goals for your life:

To walk in wisdom and to discover discernment.

Don’t ever forget how they empower you.

For they strengthen you inside and out and inspire you to do what’s right,

You will be energized and refreshed by the healing they bring.

They give you living hope to guide you, 

And not one of life’s tests will cause you to stumble.

You will sleep like a baby, safe and sound. 

Your rest will be sweet and secure. 

You will not be subject to terror, for it will not terrify you.

Nor will the disrespectful be able to push you aside,

Because God is your confidence in times of crisis, keeping your heart at rest in every situation.
